30th July 2023
On 30th July, 1922, G. K. Chesterton finally became a Catholic. For many years he had helped many others cross the Tiber but never stepped onto the Barque of Peter himself. 101 years ago today, that changed and the Church gained a faithful, light hearted, clever, wise, and innocent son.
Every year for the last 13 years, the Catholic G. K. Chesterton Society has organised a pilgrimage from St. George's church in Holland Park, London, where GKC was baptised to Beaconsfield, where he lived and is buried. It is a distance of about 25-27 miles and, including stops, takes about 12 hours to get there.
